The Fratellis are a indie/alternative rock band from Glasgow, Scotland, UK. Formed in 2005 the band consists of lead vocalist/guitarist Jon Fratelli, bass guitarist Barry Fratelli, and Mince Fratelli on the drums/backing vocals. During their career so far they have released 5 studio albums.
While I’m not hardened Fratellis fan having only really started to listen to them in the last 4 years. I was coming to them with a back catalogue to explore on my own. While listening I did recognise a few Fratellis songs I knew a little and at the time I originally heard them I really didn’t pay any attention to them or who the band was behind them.
I’m starting this as just a list of my favorite Fratellis songs Album by Album. Some songs do have Videos for them but bands usually only release Videos for Singles on their Albums.

Costello Music (2006)
My Rating: (4.1 / 5)
By September 2006 they had their debut album sitting at number 2 in the Uk Charts. 2007 brought them a BRIT Award for Best British Breakthrough Act.
My choice of songs here aren’t the obvious ones and no doubt everybody already knows them. These are the 2 songs which appeal to me.
Here We Stand (2008)
My Rating: (3.4 / 5)
Following on from their successful debut Costello Music the expectations on this album were huge and while there are a couple of “Fratellis Classics” on here the album received poor reviews. While a number of the songs on the album feel rushed there is enough in here to satisfy a fan.
Definitely not a favorite of mine but a couple of the songs make it onto my playlist.
We Need Medicine (2013)
My Rating: (4 / 5)
This album and the reformed Fratellis received some pretty harsh reviews suggesting the band just retire and the album is nothing more than a cash grab. This being the 1st Fratellis record I heard and the one that drew me in I find these reviews way off the mark as some of these songs are amongst the best they’ve ever put out.
A really nice video about a Clown who is down on his luck but there is a happy ending in store! I welled up a little the 1st time I seen it.
Eyes Wide, Tongue Tied (2015)
My Rating: (4 / 5)
The Chorus on “Little by Little” might seem a tad too repetitive at 1st but once you’re used to it you realise it couldn’t be any other way and end up this good. Do you know how many times Jon says the word “Little” in this song? 61 times!
In Your Own Sweet Time (2018)
My Rating: (4 / 5)
After touring the 10th anniversary of their debut album Costello Music, The Fratellis once again flew out to LA to enlist the expertise of Tony Hoffer, the producer behind Costello Music & Eyes Wide, Tongue Tied. Tony Hoffer seems to be the Bands lucky charm as all the albums hes been involved with have been better received by fans and reviewers alike.
This was the 1st song I listened to from the album and my immediate thought was “I bet this is the albums main single”. As soon as I heard the intro I knew it was going to be good. There’s an elaborate bridge section in this which takes you to the peak before the final Chorus which I was really impressed by.
This is just Jon doing an acoustic version of the song and I think it’s so good I’ve used it instead of the version on the album. The version on the album is quite different and is a whole band track.
So what’s next for the Fratellis? Feb 15th 2019, Jon Fratelli has released a new Solo album ‘Bright Night Flowers’ and is busy touring it. The Fratellis will be doing a few shows in the UK between July & August. You can check out the latest news here. I’m hoping after that there’s another album in the works as it really feels like the band have a lot more to give. I guess we’ll see!
Know anybody who is a fan of the band? Be sure to share this with them.
Know somebody who'd like this?
Not to mention Tony Hoffer’s involvement in Tally Hall’s Good & Evil.
